This is a birding tour, designed to see as many bird species as possible, with special focus on specialty species.
Embark on an unforgettable journey into the heart of Colombia’s Central Andes, a paradise for nature enthusiasts and birders alike. This expedition offers the perfect blend of habitats and landscapes, from misty high-altitude forests and paramo to lush cloud forests. Each carefully planned day promises encounters with rare and spectacular species, from vibrant hummingbirds to elusive antpittas. It is an exceptional opportunity for you to expand your life list while basking in Colombia’s natural splendor.
Your adventure begins in Bogotá, where the vibrant cityscape gives way to the serene beauty of Sumapaz National Park, home to the stunning and endemic Green-bearded Helmetcrest. From there, you’ll traverse the verdant forests of Otún Quimbaya, the striking Río Blanco Reserve, and the stunning landscapes of Los Nevados National Park. Expert guides will lead you to the best birding hotspots, sharing their extensive knowledge of Colombia’s diverse ecosystems and helping you spot a myriad of endemic and migratory species.
In addition to these spectacular birding locations in the Central Andes, we will also visit the famed Montezuma Road in Tatama National Park, in the Western Andes. The birding in this region is outstanding, and we hope to see Gold-ringed and Black-and-yellow Tanagers, Chestnut-bellied Flowerpiercer, and Munchique Wood-Wren among many others.
This is sure to be a once-in-a-lifetime birding adventure. From the landscapes to the birds, and the lodges to the delicious meals, there will never be a dull moment on this tour!
