Birding in the beautiful state of Maine offers an opportunity to explore habitats ranging from the boreal forests to the rocky coastlines. The easy access to both allows for quite an impressive diversity of species and specialties. The boreal forest is home to many warbler species as well as boreal specialties such as Boreal Chickadee, Spruce Grouse, Black-backed Woodpecker, Canada Jay, and more. The rocky coastline and near offshore waters are great for target species including Atlantic Puffin, Razorbill, Great Cormorant, Arctic and Roseate Terns, and even pelagic shearwaters and storm-petrels. From gorgeous scenery to a wide array of great birds, Maine is a must-see birding location!

Our extension will bring us to Mt. Washington where we will be looking for the Bicknell’s Thrush which has a very restricted breeding range. We’ll also spend a day birding along the beautiful Maine coast near Portland.
